In each of the 40 sections of the guide, a group of words from Twilight is given. The first step is to look up the word on the page indicated in Twilight and write down your best guess for the definition of the word based on existing knowledge and context clues. Next, the answer is checked against the provided definition for each word.

The definitions that Brian Leaf provides offer additional tips on how to memorize the word by noting word clues like prefixes, suffixes, word origins and similar words. The level of the vocabulary in the Twilight series never reaches the same difficulty as the most challenging vocabulary that is found on the SAT, so this is a welcome addition. This valuable information helps expand the usefulness of this book far beyond just the 600 words included from the Twilight universe.

After checking your definition, a group of multiple-choice quiz drills that include SAT-style questions like synonyms, analogies and sentence completions are completed in order to reinforce your memorization of the word. These drills also help with becoming adept at the peculiar style of questions on the SAT. An important part of SAT preparation is merely getting used to how questions are asked during the test.

After every five sections there is a quiz which tests what the student has learned. There are eight of these summary quizzes as well as two additional summary quizzes at the midpoint and end of the book.

Brian Leaf’s Defining Twilight offers a unique method of SAT prep for Twilighters by building on knowledge of a novel that fans are already familiar with. It won’t be the only study guide you’ll use to prepare for the SAT–the vocabulary in Twilight is not advanced enough–but it is certainly the most inviting and fun SAT study guide a Twilight fan will find.

When the cast of “New Moon” began planning out the pivotal date scene, they got a laugh out of some of the silly, fictional action-movie names that Weitz and his crew had assembled. But in the end, “Face Punch” was the winner.

“We started out with a few other comical names, but it turned out those were actual films so we couldn’t use those titles,” Welch laughed. “I forget the first few titles, but it was like ‘Crazy Explosion’ — and it turns out, there actually was a ‘Crazy Explosion.’ “

" 'Girlfriend' is the chance to see Jackson front and center as the kind of character where, at any moment, we're not sure if there's the potentiality to cause harm or to be a good guy, but in a more gritty, realistic indie film," writer/director Justin Lerner said in a recent conversation with MTV News.

Lerner, who will be making his feature-film debut, describes "Girlfriend" as a "harsh, modern-day take on the 'Beauty and the Beast' fable." That's not to say we'll see Rathbone as a hirsute monster, nor that the film has any Disney-esque aspirations. Rather, the movie is a real-world story set in Middle America that will bring Rathbone into a "very bizarre and unconventional love triangle," Lerner said.

BLAST: So you said at some point they almost didn’t include the movie scene in New Moon? What’s that about?

MW: You know it’s a tricky thing when you try and turn a book into a movie because a movie is only two hours and there’s only so much you can fit in, but yeah, what they originally did was they took that moment between Jacob and Bella and put it in a different scene of the movie. Luckily Taylor and Kristen lobbied that scene for me to Chris Weitz saying it absolutely had to be in, and it’s a good scene. They weren’t really lobbying for me, it’s just, how can you not have that scene in there? Yeah, so I was really happy to hear that, and it was great for me because I got to do Mike’s best scene in the book.

How would you characterize the make-up and costuming process?  Some of the actors have had difficulty with the contacts.  Did you find them difficult to use?  Did the costume help you find the character?
I found the whole process a lot of fun, I wear contacts normally so it wasn’t uncomfortable. The whole costumes when put together were so cool, and really helped with getting right into that character. It also helped that my skin was pretty much the same color as a vampire’s after a nice Vancouver winter.

How did you and the other Volturi and Guard cast members build your character relationships?
Charlie Bewley and I met at a costume fitting and got together a few days later for a coffee to chat about New Moon   We both have a very similar background and outlook on life so we got along right away, which helped with our characters since they’ve had quite a long working relationship and haven’t gotten sick of each other yet.

How did you prepare for the role of Felix?  Did you focus on a specific trait or idea as you prepared? You have talked about building back story for Felix. Can you give us some insight into that process and how you translated that to your scenes?
I definitely worked on this character for a while, I really liked his animalistic side and how good he is at what he does. I also worked out that his rage comes from jealousy, not having a power like the rest in the coven and Aro’s fascination with Edward fuels it even more. It was a fun character to play.

It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed at the fans: "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"

"Robert Pattinson is fine. The reports are exaggerated, and the accident was not caused by fans. Production continues. The Summit rep refused to say what did cause the cabbie accident, or whether or not additional precautions were being taken for Pattinson. Jeez, why the hell not? But first, a disclaimer: Sources where Rob was filming, as well as bystanders, tell us they did not see the accident. Remember, Radar also "broke" that Kristen Stewart's boyfriend was chasing her around Italy (uh, didn't happen).

MTV: And if that happens, you're going to give away the chair back to a fan?

Facinelli: Yeah. The fans have been having fun with the contest, and I decided last night that if I'm going to lose this chair backing anyway, I'd rather have a fan get it than my friend Rob. So I threw in some incentive last night — if we hit 500,000 by Friday, then I'll give away the backing of my chair to one of my followers.

MTV: How will you decide who gets it?

Facinelli: I like riddles. I think I might do some kind of riddle, and the first person that posts the correct answer will win the chair backing. That sounds more fun than a raffle, right?

MTV: Yeah, and the Twilighters all want the back of your chair really badly.

Facinelli: Especially since Rob Pattinson sat on my chair. It has some RPattz sweat on it.

MTV: Oh God. The winner could hire some CSI guys to remove the hairs and DNA.

Facinelli: Definitely. One day, in the future, you might be able to clone Rob Pattinson if you own the back of my chair. That's all I'm saying.

'It's one of the most immense responsibilities to play a real person. Her story's important. It's an incredibly triumphant feminist story really.

David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework. “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “from the point of view of a 17 year old girl. But once I got past that, I found them to be really good stories.” He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg. Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.

“Well it doesn’t really come out too much in the book. It’s one of those things were it’s understood but in the third book it really comes out like the back story and everything.

“I think one of the things we didn’t want to get too much into was focusing on all the other vampires.

“We wanted really to establish this relationship and how she (Bella) gets sucked into the world of the Cullen family and once she’s in the world that’s when things kind of start coming out.

“One of the things about Jasper is he doesn’t use the ability all the time. It’s something that he’s very strict about using because it’s like an invasion of privacy to make someone feel something, to manipulate emotions.”

"There's definitely a difference in scale," marveled Robert Pattinson when we caught up with him recently. "I liked doing 'Twilight,' but it felt very much like an indie movie — and ['New Moon'] definitely feels like it's a big movie."

"Kristen [Stewart] and Taylor [Lautner] had to lobby to get this one scene in the film that wasn't originally in — and I am forever indebted to them for that," revealed Mike Welch, citing a beloved moment from Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon" novel. "There's a scene that's in the book, the three-way date between Jacob and Bella and Mike, where Mike ends up getting sick, and it's just very awkward."

As for how physically ill Welch's Mike Newton gets in the comic-relief scene, he said we shouldn't expect projectile vomit or anything. "We're talking a little bit," he laughed. "A little sick."

"We did a lot of improv on set," Lautner said. "We'd just be in a random forest and, after Jacob transforms [into a wolf], he all of a sudden becomes very agile, and I wanted to show that, because pre-transformation, he's clumsy. But as soon as he transforms, he's agile. So we'd be in a random forest, and I'd be looking around going, 'What can I do to show Jacob's agility in here?'

Directed by Charles Stewart, “Priest” is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

According to Hardwicke, she's planning to solicit Pattinson and/or Stewart for roles in the fantasy films "Ride" and "Stay."

"Some of the projects I'm doing, they would be in a completely different world — actually, sometimes even in a different time period," Hardwicke said of the two films, which could return Stewart and Pattinson to the young-adult-fantasy realm that made them famous. "That would be fun. I'd love to do a number on them and transform them."

Billy simply loves his son and his family (tribe). Billy is the wise tribal leader, who, because he isn’t a werewolf, understands the dangers and complexities of the “tentative” peace between the Cullens and the Quileute tribe. He knows the dangers that the Cullens present to Bella and others. Billy is the glue that holds the tribe and its traditions together.

In what ways are you and Billy Black similar?

We’re both “down with the kids.” We both have a genuine compassion for the human condition. We both recharge our souls with Mother Nature, and we both keep it real.

Peter Facinelli told the A.T.:

"When we shot Twilight, it felt like it was an indie. We were racing the clock. Catherine [Hardwicke] was fantastic, but with New Moon it felt like we had more time to play. The atmospheres were different. They were both great...in their own ways. I just think New Moon is going to be incredible."

Michael Welch also told us how better prepared they were to film from day one.

"When we all got on the set the first day, [Chris Weitz] gave us this packet of 30 to 40 pages of what he wanted the film to look and feel like—how he was going to shoot it, all of that stuff. The thing is, both Chris and Catherine—I don't want to say one is better than the other. They are polar opposites in terms of style. Catherine can only succeed in chaos, really. But Chris is the exact opposite; he's so calm and has all his stuff together. He really made this film great."

Contrary to some reports out there, Christian Serratos dished that New Moon is "still really close to the book, but it's hard to explain.

The scene they were filming that day was the one where Ashley and Kristen make their way up Volterra to the Piazza in the yellow Porsche. We were supposed to act as if we didn't notice the car trying to get through the crowd until it honked and was near us, because obviously we had to get out of the way. We did the take several times, from all different directions and angles. They were using the body doubles that day and Ashley's double was a man, which we found pretty hilarious! (Alice doesn't have a 'stache!)  We figured they chose him because of his driving experience. He was clearly very adept at maneuvering the car through the narrow streets.

After the final take, they brought us all down to the road they'd been filming on, and there was a sea of fans with cameras rolling. The Porsche was parked in front of us, and everyone was taking pictures of us with the car. The assistant director made a speech thanking us for all our hard work and telling us we'd done a really great job. It was the last day of shooting in Italy, and it was sad for us to see the fountain being taken apart and the set being cleared away. (Apparently some fans and extras even kept pieces of the fountain.)

Hardwicke's unused lines range from simplistic to silly, over-the-top to right on target. Now, we give you a peek at some of the alternative lines that Pattinson did not select:

Edward: You're not scared of heights, are you?
Bella: Not that I know of ...

Edward: Hold on tight ...
Bella: Don't worry ...

Option 3:
Edward: Wrap your legs around me like a spider monkey.
Bella: Done.

Option 4:
Edward: Got a good grip? Don't let go.
Bella: No chance of that, buddy.

Edward: Prepare for liftoff ...

Reading over her unchosen chunks of dialogue, Hardwicke told us that she was glad Rob picked the now-immortal "spider monkey" line. "It's a fun line," she grinned. "Thank god he picked that one."

“It was great to work with Chris Weitz; it was a really funny set, really relaxed. We had a lot of things in common, and hopefully we’re going to work together again soon doing something. That might be the thing that I direct, I don’t know yet, you never know.”

And the rest of the cast? “It was quite intimidating being on the set with so many young, beautiful people. That was quite extraordinary being the old, ugly one amongst loads of young, beautiful ones. It’s not something I’m used to really. Not because I’m young and beautiful but usually there’s loads of old, ugly people around me. It was quite encouraging to see how Robert and Kristin are committed to it, how much they put into it and how serious they are about it. They don’t take it lightly at all so that was great to see.”

Alan: “Today a girl approached me asking for a photo. Instead of me she took a photo of my feet. When I asked her why she’d done this, she told me that it was my feet after all that will be seen on screen stepping into the sun on the piazza.” [laughing]
Being body doubles the two of them were used for light- and blocking rehearsals and even the scene when Bella runs over the piazza to prevent Edward from doing the deadly step into the bright sun at noon, has been done with them.

We’re interested to know if he fell over when “Bella-Azzurra” crashed into him, just as Robert Pattinson did when Kristen Stewarts jumped at him.
Alan: “… That’s my reply to this question.” His gamine grin reveals the truth although Azzurra seems to be even more petite than tenuous Kristen. And it’s not only her figure that relates her with the actress. From some distance even Alan got messed up spotting her on the piazza.

Alan: “I waved at her wishing her a good morning when I was suddenly realising it was Kristen getting prepared for the fountain scene.”
Kristen waved pleasantly back. Another proof for the cast being nice and open instead of distanced as they’re often said to be. Azzurra and Alan give confirmation to that. As soon as they were in a private environment they were nice and easy going.

Alan: “Everybody was relaxed on the set. All of us could personally feel the energy that was given to us by the enthusiastic fans but as well the responsibility that it brings with.”
Good to know! Rumours were spread around Montepulciano that Robert in particular was avoiding getting in touch with fans.
Azzura: “That’s not true. He was even ready to not eat during his break to say ‘Hello’ to the fans. But security didn’t allow him.”

5. Andy Samberg’s Opener
Sure, the “Saturday Night Live” funnyman spoofed “Slumdog,” “Trek” and others while kicking off the night’s festivities, but it was his love-struck moment with Edward Cullen that got some of the biggest laughs of the night. And who knew that Taylor Swift was a student at Forks High? Maybe Andy could title his next viral video “Cullenlover.”

4. RPattz Breaks Through
A new noise-level record might have been set at the Gibson Amphitheatre when Robert Pattinson won Breakthrough Male Performance and took the stage to accept his award. First, presenter Jonah Hill jumped up and down like a teenage girl — then Rob delivered what might be the line of the night. “I don’t know how many more of these awards I can come up for,” he said with his signature mix of British charm and eccentricity. “Because I think there’s a little bit coming out of my pants right now.”

3. Kristen and Rob Fake Us Out
Remember a few years back, when Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling celebrated their “Notebook” win by giving us a Movie Awards moment to remember? Well, in the weeks leading up to this year’s awards, Twilighters had been hoping RPattz and KStew might do the same, and apparently, they’d heard the buzz. Rob carefully removed his gum, inched closer and closer toward a seductive Kristen, until their faces were against each other — and then Kristen turned away at the last second to say, “Thank you so much!” Let’s just hope that Rob had a cold shower waiting for him backstage.

2. “New Moon” Rising
After a brief moment when Andy Samberg faked out Twilighters worldwide, the stars of the series took the stage to unveil the real “New Moon” trailer. The video swept across the world like wildfire, got glowing reviews from “Twilight” fans and launched a coming-out party for Taylor Lautner as the series’ other heartthrob. “Get your TiVos ready,” Lautner grinned while introducing the clip. “You’re gonna want to watch this more than once.”

1. Best Movie
There is no higher honor to be given at the MTV Movie Awards, and on Sunday night, it was handed to the overjoyed cast of a cultural phenomenon that few had heard about before last year’s ceremony. As Catherine Hardwicke and her sexy cast crowded onstage to give praise to Stephenie Meyer, millions of “OME!” shrieks poured out from bedroom windows all over the world. Now, with “New Moon” and additional sequels on the way, the only question is whether they can pull off a “Lord of the Rings”-like sweep of future ceremonies as well.

Riley “is a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria,” the notice reads. He’s in his early to mid 20s and “plays an integral role in Victoria’s attempt to murder Bella Swan.”

There are two more members of the Quileute tribe and La Push wolf pack in Eclipse. Like New Moon, they are looking for Native American or First Nations actors to fill the roles.

“Seth Clearwater is a “tall, gangly-limbed boy with a huge, happy grin,” the notice reads. “Seth idolizes Jacob.”

Seth’s big sister is 19-year-old Leah Clearwater and the only female member of La Push: “She is tall and slender with beautiful skin and short cropped black hair. She would be considered gorgeous if not for the perpetual scowl she carries due to a broken heart and her anger issues.”

There will also be additional members of the La Push wolf pack and Quileute tribe cast in Eclipse. Like New Moon, they are looking for Native American or First Nations actors ONLY to fill these roles - no actors who “look like they could be” Native American or First Nations people.
